A man was convicted of charges related to the shooting of a homeowner during a burglary in Fayette County.
Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele said Shaimik Frezzell, 31, was convicted by a jury on Thursday.
Of the nine charges filed against him, Frezzell was found guilty of four counts: conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery.
He was found not guilty of criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, possession of a firearm prohibited, and aggravated cruelty to animals.
Police say Frezzell and two other men forced their way into a home in New Salem in April, 2024.
During the encounter, prosecutors say the homeowner was shot five times, prosecutors say. The victim was seriously injured, but survived.
Frezzell’s court documents do not show a sentencing date at this time.
