Man finds extremely rare baseball card worth $500K

PITTSBURGH — A Nevada man claims he’s hit the jackpot, all thanks to an extremely rare Pittsburgh Pirates baseball card.

Jason Mars says he recently won a Honus Wagner baseball card in an eBay auction for $170.

The card, which if authentic, would be worth about $500,000 because it’s one of 57 in existence.

Mars says the timing couldn’t be better because he’s been waiting for life to give him a break.

"Maybe I can sell it and get a house and have a nice start in life. I mean, I could pay off all my bills,” Mars said. “I had two back surgeries and lost my job because of the back surgery last year. We just had a baby and now it just seems like everything is looking up and maybe we can get a good start in life."

The next step for Mars is getting the card verified by a professional service.
