McRib returning to Pittsburgh McDonald’s

McRib

A fan-favorite fast food item is going to be available in Pittsburgh soon.

The McRib is returning to McDonald’s restaurants in Pittsburgh and participating locations across Pennsylvania for a limited time starting Monday, Oct. 26.

The sandwich first debuted in the United States in 1981 in the Kansas City area. Ever since, the seasonal item creates a buzz each time it returns — often resulting in devoted fans flooding stores and causing long lines.

The McRib consists of a seasoned boneless pork patty slathered in barbecue sauce, topped with slivered onions and dill pickles on a homestyle bun.

Customers can purchase the sandwich in stores or order through the McDonald’s mobile app.

McDonald’s says it supports this seasonal sensation through local agricultural partnerships, including by sourcing an estimated 20 million pounds of pork from Pennsylvania suppliers annually.
