PITTSBURGH — A utility pole caught fire in Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington on Wednesday afternoon, leading to thousands without power.
Our crews saw firefighters and Duquesne Light crews along Virginia Avenue, where the pole appeared damaged and burnt.
A spokesperson for Duquesne Light tells Channel 11 that the current estimated time of restoration is between 2 and 3 p.m., but any extensive damage or complications could extend that timeframe.
Duquesne Light’s website shows over 2,900 people without power in a majority of Mt. Washington, and also in Duquesne Heights and the West End.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
