PITTSBURGH — A new report updates the functionality of public water fountains across the City of Pittsburgh.
Controller Rachael Heisler released the update on Friday.
The report says inspectors tested 35 fountains in various neighborhoods from August 3 to August 10.
27 fountains were functional, while eight others were turned off.
That’s an improvement from July 2025 when only 16 of 28 fountains inspected were functional.
“I appreciate the administration’s efforts to continue working to ensure that people have access to water in the hot summer months,” said Heisler.
“I hope that this report helps demonstrate where progress has been made, what neighborhoods and facilities still lack functioning water fountains, and where fountains may need to be repaired or replaced.”
