RANKIN, Pa. — A 9-year-old Rankin boy wasn't in school Monday because he said he was too afraid to ride the school bus.
Tyron Williams' parents said their son was kicked off a bus nowhere near his home last week.
Channel 11 talked to Renisha and Damen Williams at their Swissvale convenience store.
They said their son was supposed to get off the bus near their Rankin home, but he allegedly got kicked off in Swissvale and walked to their store.
"He was crying. I couldn't make out what he was saying, but the gist of it was that he was arguing with someone on the bus, and driver pulled over and told him to get out and drove away," his parents said.
Channel 11 talked to Woodland Hills School District officials Monday night. They said the bus driver told them the boy was using foul language toward another student, and she couldn't get him under control. The district said the bus driver saw a Swissvale police officer on the route and asked him to take Tyron off the bus and to his parents.
The Williams said they did not see a police officer with their son.
"He walked in alone in gym shorts," the parents said.
The district plans to meet with the bus driver and Swissvale police Tuesday.
"Whatever her story is, what I think happened and what my kid says happened on the bus does not justify my son standing in front of me in Swissvale when he lives in Rankin," said Renisha Williams.
The Williams told Channel 11 they have contacted an attorney to look into the matter.
