MONONGAHELA, Pa. — Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital in Monongahela is taking down its garage to make way for a new one-level parking lot.
Demolition on the parking garage began this week, and the first part to be removed is the back corner. The cost of the project wasn’t disclosed. The garage was built in 1983 and was closed last year. Existing parking lots are being used in the interim.
“This teardown marks the first major physical milestone in replacing the aging garage with a modern, level paved parking lot featuring upgraded safety lighting and improved campus access,” said spokesman David Titmus.
The hospital, on Country Club Road, remains open with full operations, emergency care and patient access during the process.
