PennDOT opens survey for Pennsylvanians to give feedback on construction, maintenance projects

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is inviting public feedback on its road construction and maintenance operations through an online survey open through Oct. 20.

The survey is launched annually to assess agency performance as state infrastructure work continues. Under the Shapiro administration, Pennsylvania has improved more than 21,800 miles of roads and advanced work on nearly 2,000 state and local bridges.

Between January and August, the department improved more than 2,600 road miles and advanced work on 373 state and local bridges. State officials also announced 79 Rapid Deployment Projects, which represent the initial round of a $775 million investment from the Motor License Fund spanning 18 months.

The 17-question survey asks respondents how they receive roadway information and how frequently PennDOT meets or exceeds expectations regarding maintenance and construction projects. The questionnaire also gathers feedback on reporting concerns to the department and how residents utilize the state’s 511PA traveler information service.

PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll discussed the goal of the feedback effort when announcing the survey.

“The PennDOT team is committed to serving every county, every community, every time and this annual survey helps the department see successes and opportunities,” Carroll said. “The survey also helps us find areas where we can educate the public while learning about how the public receives road information.”
