MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — A woman was killed in a shooting in McKees Rocks on Friday night.
Allegheny County dispatchers said police and medics were called to the 20 block of Singer Avenue at 8:05 p.m. for a reported shooting inside a residence.
The Allegheny County Police Department says arriving first responders found a woman shot in the head inside an apartment. She later died at an area hospital.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified her as Mya Parker, 20.
After coordinating with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, ACPD charged Jayden Knight, 19, with criminal homicide. He’s being held at the Allegheny County Jail, awaiting a preliminary hearing.
A criminal complaint reveals that two witnesses were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. Both told police they heard a loud bang or pop, then heard the front door open.
Investigators say an officer found Knight at the bus stop across from Singer Avenue. The complaint states that Knight told the officer, “I’m the one you’re looking for, I did it.”
