Pitt students raise over $300,000 for UPMC Children’s Hospital during dance marathon fundraiser

PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh held a 12-hour long “dance marathon’ to raise money for the UPMC Children’s Hospital.

The fundraiser ran from noon to midnight on Saturday, but some people showed up early to get the party started.

Students are not the only people who attend the event. “Miracle children” and their families were also invited to help make a difference.

An hour was dedicated in the early afternoon to give the children a chance to have fun and bond with the dancers.

“We have a bunch of miracle families throughout the day so that people can interact with them and kind of get a sense of what they’re doing all this hard work for,” said Molly Hayden, membership director of the Pitt Dance Marathon.

The event closed out with a rave that run began at 11 p.m.

$340,151 were raised on Saturday, nearly matching the $350,000 raised in 2022.
