PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh school is celebrating the opening of a brand-new community schoolyard.
On Friday, Channel 11 got a look at the new playground at Pittsburgh Greenfield.
Trust for Public Land helped transform the schoolyard into a greener and more welcoming space, with brand-new play equipment.
“I’m so impressed and grateful to the students themselves, who used their own lived experiences and they demonstrated what they’ve learned about climate and health challenges,” Rep Summer Lee (D-12) said. “They are helping to build their futures and futures for generations to come.”
Lee helped secure $400,000 in federal funding to support the playground transformation.
The playground and green space are not only for Greenfield’s students. There are more than 2,500 neighbors within a 10-minute walk.
