Pittsburgh Pride Revolution 2022 kicks off with 4 days of events

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Pride Revolution 2022 has officially arrived.

The multiday event is making a triumphant return to the Steel City starting tonight.

Organizers are encouraging everyone to celebrate responsibly.

“We’re coming together as community members and allies to let folks know that we are here,” said Dena Stanley, co-organizer of Pittsburgh Pride and Executive Director/Founder of TransYOUniting Pittsburgh.

The star-studded four-day celebration features six community events across the area, offering something for everyone.

“We have stuff in Northside, stuff in Bloomfield, stuff downtown and we have a lot of partner organizations,” said Daeja Baker, lead event coordinator of Pittsburgh Pride Revolution.

The LGBTQIA+ celebration includes drag performances; art; health services and screenings; food and live music, featuring superstar Jessie J Friday on the Northshore; viral sensation Saucy Santana, who performs at the Too Hot for July event at KLVN Coffee Lab Thursday evening; and Pittsburgh’s own rap icon Miss Money, who will showcase her talents this weekend.

Pittsburgh-born Tony, Emmy and Grammy-winning star Billy Porter will be the grand marshal of the Pride Parade on Saturday.

It starts at noon from the City-County Building.

“It’s going to be showing the talents of our community, showing the strength of our community and it’s going to be giving back to people,” said Baker.

Organizers say it feels incredible to be back in person again, and to spread a message of hope and inclusion during such tough times.

The event is not only fun for everyone, but it showcases LGBTQIA+ partners and area artists working together.

They also say it’s a major moment for black queer women who have been instrumental in putting together the four day long celebration.

“Come out and enjoy the festivities. We did this for you! We did this for the community. Come out and be in a safe space!” Said Stanley.

The vast majority of the events are free and open to the public with the exception of Jessie J’s performance which is a ticketed event called Pride On the Shore. Click here to buy tickets.
