PITTSBURGH — About 1,400 security officers in Pittsburgh overwhelmingly voted to ratify a new four-year contract with 12 security contractors.
The agreement delivers $4.30 in wage increases over four years for members represented by 32BJ SEIU.
The agreement covers security personnel who protect commercial properties, office buildings, cultural institutions and hospitals throughout Pittsburgh.
According to union officials, the economic package provides the largest wage increase ever negotiated for Pittsburgh security officers represented by 32BJ SEIU.
Along with the pay increases, the contract preserves health care coverage with no premium sharing for union members. It also adds New Year’s Day as a paid holiday starting in 2029 and updates workplace safety language.
Tim Finucan serves as the 32BJ SEIU Pennsylvania state director. Finucan emphasized the role security personnel serve across the region following the ratification vote.
“We entered these negotiations committed to fighting for the best possible contract for our members,” Finucan said. “Security officers are the frontline professionals who help keep Pittsburgh safe, secure and operating every day.
“Throughout these negotiations, employers acknowledged the critical role officers play and the value they bring to Pittsburgh buildings and our communities. This historic agreement delivers meaningful wage gains and strong workplace protections that reflect the importance of their work and provide real improvements for working families across the region.”
