Police chase through Beaver County ends in crash

BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — An overnight police chase through multiple jurisdictions in Beaver County ended in a crash.

The police pursuit began in Chippewa Township at around 12 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say a man driving a yellow Mustang tried to evade a DUI checkpoint.

The suspect crossed into Ohio, through Columbiana County and Mahoning County, where police lost him. He was later tracked down as he circled back to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and returned to Beaver County. The chase continued and ended in a crash in Franklin Township on Route 288 and Fombell Road.

Troopers say the suspect rammed into a Franklin Township vehicle several times. A Koppel Police vehicle then hit a pole and caught fire.

One person was evaluated by medics at the scene but no one was taken to a hospital for their injuries, officials said.

The suspect was taken into custody. Police say at one point, he was going 115 miles per hour.
