Police make arrest after Mt. Oliver carjacking incident

PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County Police have made an arrest after an armed robbery of a vehicle in Mt. Oliver on Thursday night.

Police say that first responders arrived to the 200 block of Rustic Ave for a report of an armed robbery of a car, where they found an uninjured male victim. He reported that his gray Mazda 6 sedan was stolen by a group of four young males. The victim told Mt. Oliver police he was ordered out of the car at gunpoint by one of the males.

Mt. Oliver police requested the assistance of Allegheny County police in the investigation.

The stolen vehicle was involved in a crash on Perrysville Ave in Pittsburgh’s North Side just after 4:30 a.m. Multiple juveniles went to area hospitals for various injuries after the crash.

Investigation showed detectives that 18-year-old Tyler Hutchinson, from Pittsburgh’s Corliss neighborhood, was the person responsible for the robbery.

Police say that Hutchinson conspired to steal the vehicle with three other males. Two of those males have been identified as juvenile residents of Pittsburgh’s North Side.

Hutchinson has been charged with robbery of a motor vehicle, theft, receiving stolen property, corruption of minors, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal conspiracy. He was arrested by county police at 10:06 p.m. on Friday night.

According to a press release, detectives are in consultation with the district attorney’s office to determine the culpability of the juvenile suspects.
