Police: Teen injured in car-surfing accident in Center Township

CENTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A local teen was rushed to a Pittsburgh hospital early Thursday morning after being injured in a car-surfing accident.

According to police, the 17-year-old female fell off the top of a car in a Cinemark movie theater parking lot on Route 18 in Center Township around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Officials said the victim was on the hood of the moving car and when the driver began to brake, she fell off and hit her head.

The victim’s name has not been released. Police said she is in serious to critical condition.

Center residents like Forrest Sampson were upset when they heard about the girl’s injury.

“I think it’s very stupid because you can fall off the car and get run over,” Sampson said. “She’s lucky to be alive. Very, very lucky.”

Authorities said the driver of the car could face criminal charges.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
