SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — With schools starting up again, PennDOT and AAA are making sure crossing guards are up to date on their training.
Public safety officials and guards were on hand in Shaler Township on Wednesday for guard and pedestrian safety training.
Organizers also hope to get the word out to drivers as students head back to school.
“It’s not just the responsibility of the crossing guards to get the kids to school safe; it’s all of our responsibility,” AAA safety advisor Terri Rae Anthony said.
Drivers and pedestrians are asked to cut down on distractions.
Families are also encouraged to allow for extra time when they head out as everyone gets used to their new routines.
