PITTSBURGH — A record field of 6,500 runners and walkers completed the sold-out 2026 EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler & 10K on Sunday morning, making it the largest event in race history.
Participants representing 33 states and six countries competed for an $11,000 prize purse.
The course guided participants through several Pittsburgh neighborhoods, taking runners and walkers through the North Shore, Strip District and Downtown while crossing three of the city’s bridges. Along the route, more than 20 DJs, bands and musical acts provided encouragement while incorporating this year’s official theme of “Bring the Energy.”
Jim Popovich, CEO of event organizer P3R, highlighted the participation of both elite athletes and recreational runners.
“We’re incredibly proud to see the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler & 10K reach a new milestone with a record, sold-out field of 6,500 participants,” Popovich said. “What makes this event so special is the incredible mix of athletes and individuals who come together to MOVE with us. From the elite runners pushing the pace to those tackling a new distance or enjoying the experience with friends, everyone is part of what makes Pittsburgh such a special running community. We’re grateful to EQT and all of our partners, volunteers and participants for making this year’s event so successful.”

In the men’s 10-mile division, Shitsama secured victory with a time of 48:16. Zach Leachman of Mars, Pa., placed second in 49:30, followed by Quintin Gatons of Greensburg, Pa., in 50:50.
“I had a shot for the course record on my mind today, but I knew it would be tough to hit it because of the 20mph wind gusts,” Shitsama said. “The course was amazing, rolling hills for the first five miles then fun for the last five miles! The fans around the course were amazing, too! I will definitely be back next year for that course record.”
In the women’s 10-mile division, Grabill captured her second event victory in 55:42, having previously won the race in 2024. Claire Anderson of Bridgeville, Pa., took second place with a time of 56:57, while Chloe Bonson of Pittsburgh finished third in 57:18.
“I had so much fun racing the EQT Pittsburgh 10 mile!” Grabill said. “Always awesome energy and a fun course. Can’t wait to come back.”
The event also featured a 10K distance starting on the North Shore near PNC Park. Dezmond Cutter of Australia claimed the men’s 10K title in 32:33, while Anna Barefield of Pittsburgh won the women’s 10K race in 40:02.
Younger runners participated in the Kids10 event presented by Kids of STEEL. The youth experience incorporated 10 character-building principles, including teamwork, leadership, respect and confidence, through interactive activities on and off the course.
Additionally, 685 participants earned recognition for completing the 2026 Steel City Series, which included the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend, America’s Mile presented by VisitPITTSBURGH and the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler & 10K.
