UNIONTOWN, Pa. — An event Sunday helped families in Fayette County get ready for the school year.
It was the annual “Safe and Sound,” hosted by the Harmony Earth Foundation in Uniontown.
Kids could get backpacks and haircuts, plus meet first responders and see their vehicles.
“Last year we were rained out a little early,” organizer Destiny Molter said. “We were able to give out about 120 backpacks in that two-hour frame. Today we’re hoping to exceed that.”
The goal was to reach about 200 families this year.
“Safe and Sound” is supported by community members and a year-long fundraising effort by the Harmony Earth Foundation.
