Pittsburgh Steelers starting left tackle Troy Fautanu did not practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury. His status will be something to monitor as the Steelers head into their Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots in Foxborough on Sunday.
Fautanu exited Sunday’s win over Atlanta briefly before returning. Dylan Cook, the starting right tackle, slid to Fautanu’s spot, and first-round pick Max Iheanachor stood in for one play — a four-yard pass from Aaron Rodgers to Jaylen Warren.
At Wednesday’s practice, Cook worked outside left guard Mason McCormick in individual drills while Fautanu sat out with an injury.
“Nothing different,” Cook said about moving afterward. “We do that in practice. Whenever we’re on the cart team, we try to flip-flop here and there for those scenarios. (I’d) say, ‘Prepared for it.’ But definitely a shock when it happens. You don’t wanna see someone go down.”
