Strong storms possible Wednesday evening

PITTSBURGH — It’s still hot and humid this evening, and storms are possible in spots.

Storms could be strong to severe. Heavy rain, lightning, hail and damaging winds are possible, and an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.

The heat index will feel more like 100 degrees through early this evening as a heat advisory is in effect for much of the area until 8 p.m. Thursday. Stay safe and cool in the heat and don’t forget about your pets.

Hot temperatures and high humidity continue Thursday with highs in the upper 80s near 90 degrees and heat indices in the mid-90s. Spotty thunderstorms are possible at any point through Friday. Storms could be strong with damaging winds, very heavy rain and hail.

Much nicer air arrives for Labor Day weekend with lower humidity and highs around 80 degrees starting Saturday.
