PITTSBURGH — A local police officer is being honored for protecting students getting on and off the bus.
Students at Propel Montour Elementary School created a certificate for Pittsburgh Zone 6 Officer David Sadecky.
Local parents had raised concerns about a driver passing a stopped school bus, and Sadecky took action.
They say he ticketed the driver and now sits at the intersection during bus stops to ensure the students’ safety.
“The fact that Propell Schools is taking the opportunity to honor one of our police officers for the work they enjoy doing and are committed to doing is just a day of appreciation,” Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Sheldon Williams said.
Officer Sadecky says he is going to put the certificate at his desk.
