PITTSBURGH — This article originally appeared on PGHHockeyNOW.com.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (2-2-1) are winless in three and struggling mightily with puck management and grasping for lineup chemistry. Their challenge does not get easier when they host the perennial Stanley Cup contender Dallas Stars (2-2-0) at PPG Paints Arena.

The Penguins were dominated and looked like a sloppy mess for a third straight game Friday, losing 3-2 in a shootout to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Turnovers and team-defense woes again beset them as Columbus outshot them 45-22. However, rookie goalie Sergei Murashov submitted a brilliant performance and stole a point, getting the Penguins to the shootout.

Penguins Game Notes

This is the Penguins’ first set of back-to-back games. Last year, they were 14-10-8 in back-to-backs (7-5-4 in the first half and 7-5-4 in the second half).

The Penguins have points in 10 of their last 16 games against the Stars (7-6-3), dating back to Feb. 9, 2018.
