Wanted felon leads police on chase in Washington County, hitting bus and 3 other cars

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — Only Channel 11 was there as Stanley Adler was walked out of a judge’s courtroom and put in the back of a state trooper’s SUV, where he was taken to jail.

Adler didn’t mutter a word when we asked if he had anything to say about the police chase and crash that ended on Main Street in Washington, but he did flash a big smile for our cameras.

Just a couple of hours earlier, Joshua Berrios was at his desk along Main Street.

“We were sitting in there, heard three big booms and the cop sirens are going and the cops are running down the street,” Berrios tells Channel 11.

Troopers say Adler, a wanted felon for allegedly selling heroin, was behind the wheel, leading police on a chase from North Franklin Township to Main Street where he hit a bus, then crashed into three other cars.

“When I came out, there was a muffler sitting right here on the street, there was a car that was coming up right here that was hit and off to the side,” Berrios added.

Troopers took Adler and his passenger, Austin McConn, another felon wanted on drug charges, into custody in the middle of Main Street. Berrios and other local business owners helped direct traffic.

“Everybody going in and out of court, getting to jobs,” Berrios said. “There’s a lot of local businesses.  There’s a lot of people walking.  Thank god nobody was really hurt.”

Troopers say Adler also had a suspended license from a DUI. He’s in the Washington County Jail, unable to post $50,000 bond.
