A 43-year-old Indiana County man has been charged with felony counts of disseminating and possessing child sexual abuse material, along with unlawful use of a communications facility.
Attorney General Dave Sunday announced the charges on Monday following a proactive investigation by the state’s Child Predator Section.
The investigation began earlier this year when state agents identified file-sharing activity involving child sexual abuse material coming from a home in Indiana. Agents executed a search warrant on South 11th Street and traced the activity to Yao Wang, finding at least 20 illegal files on his computer, according to the AG’s office.
Wang was recently arraigned, with bail set at $50,000 unsecured. As conditions of his release, Wang was required to surrender his passport and is prohibited from having contact with minors or using the internet.
Attorney General Dave Sunday praised the work of state investigators in identifying the origin of the shared material.
“Those who distribute these vile materials are repeatedly abusing and exploiting children and will be held fully accountable,” Sunday said. “I commend my team for a proactive investigation that led to this defendant as the source of the illegal sharing.”
Deputy Attorney General Alison Bragle of the Child Predator Section has been assigned to prosecute the case.
