PITTSBURGH — A Westmoreland County cleaner pleaded guilty to bank fraud in connection with a scheme spanning more than a decade.

Emily Roberts, 55, of Monessen, submitted the plea in federal court, the Department of Justice announced Friday.

Prosecutors say that, between January 2014 and March 2026, Roberts stole checks from clients’ checkbooks while providing home cleaning services.

She then allegedly forged signatures on the checks and deposited the money into her own bank account, stealing $18,893,750 through 636 checks.

Roberts’ sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 10.

She could face up to 30 years in prison and/or a fine of more than $1 million, or twice how much she made from the fraud.

This prosecution follows an investigation by the FBI and North Strabane Township Police Department.
