Phone calls from jail lead to property search of man tied to Cassandra Gross’ disappearance

LATROBE, Pa. — Jailhouse phone calls and writings led police to search the property of a man tied to the disappearance of a Westmoreland County mother.

Investigators found 17 guns on Thomas Stanko’s property, as well as a storage unit, according to search warrants obtained by Channel 11.

Stanko’s attorney claims Pennsylvania State Police did not have probable cause to search the property in August of 2018.

Stanko’s girlfriend, Cassandra Gross, disappeared four months before that.

In January of 2019, a judge legally declared her dead.

No charges have been filed in connection to her disappearance.
