PITTSBURGH,None — Parents met Thursday night to talk about plans for a new school to replace the closed St. John Neumann's School in Lawrenceville.
Parents want to open the Lawrenceville Academy, which would be a faith-based magnet type of private school.
The Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese closed St. John Neumann, and parents said that left a big void for their children.
"Our goal is, we really need in this particular community, we need a private, independent school, and we need an option to public school and that's what we're hoping to do," said Judy Graf, a member of the school task force.
The biggest obstacle for the school is funding. Parents are hoping for donations from the public to help offset the cost of opening the school.
