Tighter restrictions implemented at courthouse following coronavirus spike

GREENSBURG — Following the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in Westmoreland County, the clerk of courts will be closing daily for sanitization.

The office will be closed from Noon until 1 p.m.

According to the clerk of courts, Brian Kline, the public works department will be sending crews to wipe down counters, door handles and high traffic surfaces.

This is being done to help eliminate the spread of coronavirus.

“We’ve had an increase in the office and an increase in the community. So, it is being done to protect the staff and the citizens that come into the office,” said Kline.

The clerk of courts was the first office in the county to restrict access, requiring the public to make an appointment before entering.

County leaders tell Channel 11, the courthouse will be operating with restrictions for the foreseeable future.
