Arrest made in investigation of killing of mother of 3 in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — An arrest was made in the investigation of how a mother of three was killed in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden neighborhood earlier this month.

Pittsburgh police arrested Unique Lane, 22, in connection with the deadly Oct. 3 shooting of Kia Reynolds. Lane was charged with criminal homicide and was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Investigators had been searching for a suspect in Reynold’s death since her body was found in the early morning hours in the 2700 block of Glen Mawr Street. Officers said they were responding to reports of gunfire and found her body at the scene.

Reynolds’ oldest daughter held her loved ones tight on Saturday as they released balloons in her mother’s honor.

“My mom opened her mom to everybody. She loved everybody,” explained Dynasti Dickerson. “We’re staying together as a family and that’s all that really matter, i wish that this wasn’t what brought us together but it did.”

They gathered on the North Shore to remember the Sheraden woman.

Reynolds was found shot to death nearly two weeks ago at a home on Glen Mawr street.

She was a mom to three girls, a sister and worked in the health care industry.

Her family and friends said she was the “glue” that kept them together.

“She was my best friend. She was everything to me,” Amber Houser said through her tears, days after Reynolds’ body was found.

Unique Lane is charged with homicide and is currently behind bars at the Allegheny County Jail.

“All that matters is my mom gets justice I don’t wish nothing on anybody. I just want my mom to get the justice she deserves,” explained Dickerson.

Police said that Reynolds and Lane were involved in a fight before the shooting.
