Couple sentenced after pleading guilty to stealing more than $1.3 million from Butler Health System

BUTLER, Pa. — A Butler County couple who investigators said stole more than $1.3 million from Butler Health System learned they’ll spend the next few years in prison.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Stephanie J. Roskovski, 51, and Scott A. Roskovski, 52, were sentenced Thursday. Stephanie Roskovski pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud and one count of filing a false income tax return. She was sentenced to 51 months in prison and three years of supervised release.

Scott Roskovski was sentenced to 30 months in prison and two years of supervised release after he pleaded guilty to filing a false income tax return and submitting a false loan application to a bank.

Stephanie Roskovski was the former COO of Butler Health System. Her husband was a former county detective who investigated fraud and financial crimes.

Federal investigators said over the course of six years, the couple embezzled more than $1.3 million from the health care organization using a business credit card. They are accused of spending the money on lavish vacations, home renovations and a motocross facility.
