Elizabeth Borough Police Department closes after several officers test positive for COVID-19

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Elizabeth Borough Police Department has closed after several officers tested positive for COVID-19, police chief William Sombo confirmed to Channel 11.

Sombo said three officers tested positive for the virus and one officer is sick and is awaiting test results. One council member has been exposed and has tested positive.

These are the departments currently providing assistance to the department:

For Elizabeth Borough:

  • Elizabeth Township
  • Forward Township
  • Lincoln Borough

For West Elizabeth Borough:

  • Jefferson Hills
  • City of Clairton

Anyone needing police assistance in Elizabeth or West Elizabeth is asked to call 911.

All five police departments are making and will continue to make routine patrols in both boroughs to ensure police presence, Sombo said.

He said there is no disruption in police service.
