BALDWIN, Pa. — It's only been just over a week since 7-year-old Jessica Basnet was found in a pool and died, and her father is still working to come to terms with the loss while seeking answers.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner said Jessica was at a caregiver's home when she drowned in a neighbor's pool while the girl's family was on vacation.

"I just need justice for my daughter. That's it," said Jessica's father Kharga Basnet.

He said he thought his daughter was at Walmart with a caregiver and was surprised to get a call from police.

The caregiver told Channel 11 last week that she had gone to the bathroom, and when she got out, she noticed Jessica wasn't there.

That's when she said she found Jessica in the pool, but the victim's father doesn't believe that.

Kharga Basnet said he has questions because she was found in a swimsuit.

And the neighbors who own the pool told Channel 11 somebody threw a party while they were out of town.

"They took it upon themselves to have a pool party at our house, invited friends and family over and, as a result, a 7-year-old girl drowned in our pool," said neighbor Mandell Loman.

We reached out to Allegheny County police for answers, but they confirmed this is still an active investigation and cannot provide any details.
