ICE agents raid Brownsville home amid child porn investigation

PITTSBURGH — Officials from the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations arrested 113 alleged child predators across the U.S. and South America last week during a joint operation with international agencies.

In Brownsville, agents with a search warrant raided a home for possession and distribution of child pornography. The Pittsburgh office started investigating a suspect based on information provided by Kik, Inc. The information indicated the suspect was using the Kik app to distribute child porn files.

Similar events played out in places including North Carolina, Colorado, Florida, Tennessee and California.

Called phase seven of Operation Protected Childhood, agents targeted distributors and producers of child sexual abuse material and was conducted along with the agency’s Cyber Crimes Center and local law enforcement.

It’s not clear if anyone was arrested. Channel 11 has reached out to ICE for more information.
