Local teachers reading, helping students at home during coronavirus outbreak

Local teachers are helping students by reading and providing online support to students who are at home from school during the coronavirus outbreak.

Shannon Longdon is finding a way to connect with her students at home. She’s is an elementary school teacher in the Washington School District.

She’s reading to her students and posting them to YouTube.

Longdon read the book “The Pigeon Needs A Bath!” Tuesday on the streaming channel.

Another local teacher, Molly Romeo, a middle school teacher for the Fox Chapel Area School District, is also posting videos an positive messages on YouTube and Facebook.

Romeo usually sings in class, but never has her guitar to play. Her students know her love for Taylor Swift.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf Friday ordered all K-12 public schools be closed for 10 days starting March 16.
