Man, brother facing charges after Fayette Co. mother found shot dead inside home

FAYETTE CO., Pa. — A man was charged days after a woman was found dead inside her Fayette County home.

State police said Meghan Masi, 28, was found brutally murdered inside the house along Yauger Hollow Road in North Union Township.

The details surrounding the mother’s death are still unclear. Investigators do know she was shot twice in the head, and authorities have made one arrest so far.

Joseph Thomas has been charged with criminal homicide in the case, and investigators told Channel 11 more arrests could be coming.

The investigation started when police were contacted by one of Masi’s family members. They quickly discovered her body.

According to troopers, Thomas allegedly confessed to one of his friends that he was at Masi’s house Friday night and shot her twice before taking her husband’s car.

Surveillance video from a nearby gas station the day of the murder shows Thomas and Masi pulling up in a car together -- with Masi driving and entering the store.

Thomas’ brother, Christopher, is also facing charges. He’s accused of giving police a fake alibi for his brother and allegedly buried the gun in a wooded area.

Police are still working out a possible motive behind the murder.

Neighbors said Masi just moved in about a year ago on the fairly quiet and remote road that sits just outside of Lemont Furnace.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Uniontown.
