Man critically injured in Homewood shooting

PITTSBURGH — A man was critically injured in a shooting in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood Sunday evening.

According to Pittsburgh police, the shooting happened at around 6:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of Bennett Street.

When officers and emergency medical services got there, they found a man who was shot in the chest, according to police.

The victim was immediately taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Police blocked the street at both ends while investigators scoured the area and talked with witnesses.

At this hour, police have not released the name of the victim or the suspect.

Police said they detained one person at the scene.
