More than 2,500 new COVID-19 cases reported in Pa., 174 in Allegheny Co.

ALLEGHENY CO., Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed an additional 2,510 positive coronavirus cases Saturday -- bringing the state’s total to 208,027.

Officials said the state’s daily increases are now the highest they have been since the pandemic began.

There have been 8,812 total deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Pa., an increase of 28 new deaths reported. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

In Allegheny County, the health department is reporting 174 new cases as of Saturday but no new deaths.

All 174 new cases were the result of positive tests between Oct. 17 and Oct. 30.

Since March 14, there have been 15,796 positive cases of the coronavirus among Allegheny County residents. A total of 1,453 people have been hospitalized and 434 people have died.
