Santa display featured handgun, bat at McKeesport store before being taken down

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — A Santa figure at a McKeesport Dollar General store featured a handgun, chain and bat before it was taken down.

The photo was posted to social media where hundreds of people left comments, many saying they found the display offensive.

The woman who posted the photo told Channel 11 it was meant to be a joke, but understands how things some people find funny can offend others, especially in today’s political climate.

Channel 11 reached out to the corporate offices for Dollar General. A spokesperson said the situation was quickly addressed and the display was taken down as soon as they were made aware of the photo. The spokesperson said this incident does not represent the values of the company.
