Several deadly shootings overnight

PITTSBURGH — Overnight, police reported several shootings in multiple areas of the city, two of which were deadly.

The first incident reported was in the 7200 block of Tioga St., Homewood South, around 11:05 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a juvenile boy with a gunshot wound to the rear of his left leg. The victim was conscious and alert. Medics transported him to a local hospital in stable condition.

Another shooting was reported in the 2700 block of Zephyr Avenue, Sheraden, around 12:10 a.m. When first responders arrived, they discovered a male with multiple gunshot wounds in a vehicle.

The man was identified as Kristofer Lee Metzger, 35, of Pittsburgh. Medics pronounced him deceased shortly after arriving on scene.

The third incident was reported in the 7600 block of Frankstown Avenue, Homewood, around 2 a.m., where police were called for a man lying in the street. When first responders arrived, they observed the man face down in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as Julian Isaiah Carter, 30. Police arrested Christopher Papalia in connection with the deadly shooting. Court documents said he approached investigators at the shooting scene wearing a white coat “covered in fresh blood.” Papalia told police “I was the guy in the fight” and “I shot him.”

Investigations into all three shootings are ongoing.
