VA Pittsburgh lowers age limit for COVID-19 vaccination clinic

PITTSBURGH — VA Pittsburgh officials lowered the age requirement for Saturday’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic to veterans 55 and older.

“We were doing so well about midday, we sent out that if there were veterans in the area over the age of 55, we would squeeze you in today,” said dVA Pittsburgh Healthcare System director Don Koenig.

Saturday’s clinic marked the fifth weekend the local VA offered the vaccine to eligible veterans. Officials said they were encouraged by the turnout.

“Probably had a thousand here. Last Saturday, we had just under 2,000,” Koenig said.

Next weekend, VA facilities in Beaver and Fayette counties plan to hold similar vaccination clinics.
