Witnesses: Driver parks wrecked car at McKeesport housing complex before walking away

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — It was a call that took even a veteran tow truck driver by surprise.

Nick Janosek of C&D Towing & Recovery said he was called to pick up a destroyed vehicle parked at the Hi View Gardens housing complex parking lot in McKeesport around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. What he found was nothing short of astonishing.

“I’ve been towing for 22 years and I’ve never seen a car drive with that much damage like that or nobody being hurt,” he said. “It actually hit the hood and came back and hit the post that holds the roof up and took the post off and the roof was flipped up in the air, rolled back like a can opener would.”

Janosek said police and witnesses told him a driver parked it there and walked away.

“Everybody was taking pictures; they were in shock they couldn’t believe he was okay and drove the car and parked it in the parking spot like nothing happened,” Janosek said. “When I got there I seen the vehicle parked in the parking spot and the severe damage to it and the police were there and they told me they thought it got towed in there and somebody dropped it off there but they said no they watched the video and someone drove it like that, parked it and left.”

McKeesport police have not released any information about the incident, though Channel 11 did contact them for more information.

C&D towing says the car is a total loss.
