Woman arrested in murder of man whose body was left in McKees Rocks alley

McKEES ROCKS, Pa. — A woman was arrested in the shooting death of a man whose body was found early Sunday morning in McKees Rocks, police announced early Tuesday morning.

Brook Lank, 24, was arrested shortly before 8 p.m. Monday by Allegheny County police in connection to the murder of 22-year-old Anthony Lofton.

Lofton’s body was found about 6:30 a.m. Sunday in Derby Alley. He had been shot in the head, investigators said.

Lank told detectives she was in a relationship with Lofton and he threatened her with a gun on Saturday evening before he left her house, according to a criminal complaint. Lofton later returned and asked Lank to go to McKeesport to make a drug deal.

While driving to McKeesport, the couple got into a fight and Lank took Lofton’s gun and shot him in the head, she admitted to police. She said she shot him two more times while he was still breathing and reaching for her.

The complaint went on to state that Lank told detectives she panicked and dumped Lofton’s body in the alley. She said she then went home and tried to clean blood out of the car.

Video from Russellwood Avenue captured a car in Derby Alley just before 6 a.m. Sunday. However, a man was seen removing Lofton’s body from the car.

The car, which was a rental, was traced back to Lank. The car’s GPS helped police find the vehicle in a hotel parking lot, where a man was cleaning it.

Detectives interviewed the man, who told them Lank had asked him to go for a ride. When he got into the car with her, he saw Lofton in the front passenger seat and believed he was asleep. The man said he didn’t realize Lofton was dead until Lank asked him to help remove Lofton from the car, according to police.

Lank is charged with criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse. She was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
