YONKERS, N.Y. — Police officers and bystanders lifted a car off an infant Friday who was pinned beneath when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
Video shows a 36-year-old woman crossing a street with her 8-month-old daughter when a car careens around a corner and crashes into multiple cars. The car then hits the woman and dragged her child as it slammed into a barbershop.
Fusco and Samoyedy immediately run out to help. The officers found the woman injured in the wreckage of the crash. They quickly learn that her infant daughter is under the car. With the help of bystanders, they all then lift the vehicle and pull the child to safety.
“I got, I got it, I got the baby,” Samoyedy can be heard saying in the video.
The woman suffered a compound fracture to one of her legs. The baby suffered a fractured skull. They are both expected to recover. Their identities were not released.
There were no other injuries.
The driver, David Poncurack, did not have a license. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
