Crash investigators said Eckelberry was killed when a 2010 Jeep Cherokee driven by the other crash victim crossed the center line hitting her head-on.

Eckelberry was a 2018 graduate of Gannon University and played for the women’s softball team. Below is the statement issued by the university:

“Kaitlyn was a May 2018 graduate of Gannon and a member of the women’s softball team. We are deeply saddened by this loss of one of our Gannon Family members. We extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to Kaitlyn’s family and friends.”
