In front of members of the Panthers’ 1976 national championship team and moments after Pat Narduzzi reclaimed the lead in the fourth quarter with sixth-year running back La’Vell Wright’s second rushing touchdown of the day, Bill Belichick’s North Carolina connected on a blow of its own.
Tar Heels graduate quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. hit redshirt junior tight end Shamar Easter in stride down the right seam, letting the 6-foot-5, 230-pounder outrace the hosts’ back end for a 75-yard touchdown with 12:36 to go.
