Pirates’ Endy Rodríguez out for extended period after hip surgery

Pirates catcher Endy Rodríguez underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his left hip on Wednesday and is expected to resume baseball activities in 7-9 months. The procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas Byrd.

It’s another major setback for Rodríguez, who previously underwent a pair of elbow surgeries that cost him the entire 2024 season and most of 2025.

Rodríguez’s latest injury puts an end to a promising season. The 26-year-old totaled 45 games with the Pirates in the year after he was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on May 12.
