Team USA: Who is Amanda Kessel?

Her brother is a Pittsburgh fan favorite, and that alone could make Amanda Kessel one to watch this Olympics, but she is a superstar in her own right.

Kessel already has an Olympic medal – a silver from Sochi – but those games also came close to ending her career.

A concussion from a pre-Olympic scrimmage reappeared after Russia and sidelined her for a while.

But that time off is motivating her in South Korea.

Being out of the sport for two years just kind of showed me how passionate I am about the game still and how much I love it and what you really do miss out on,” she said. “So I think I just don't take it for granted ever now.”

Kessel says her time spent playing against brother Phil growing up helped make her into an even tougher player.
