Penn-Trafford is taking home its first ever WPIAL Football Championship after defeating Moon

PITTSBURGH — Penn-Trafford is taking home its first ever WPIAL Football Championship after defeating Moon in dramatic fashion on Saturday night at Heinz Field.

After falling behind 3-0, Moon scored back to back touchdowns by Ben Bladel. One on a long catch and run, and the other on a direct snap short touchdown run.

Penn-Trafford responded quickly, with Cade Yacamelli taking a direct snap and running 50 yards to cut Moon’s lead to 14-10.

The Warriors hit on another big play shortly after that, with Carter Green hitting Yacamelli wide open for a 92 yard touchdown.

Moon would take the lead before halftime on another short run by Ben Bladel.

In the second half, Penn-Trafford took the lead on a 4th and one play. Carter Green ended up running for a 29 yard score to put the Warriors back on top 24-21.

Penn-Trafford thought it had another touchdown on a Yacamelli 80 yard run, but it was called back for holding.

Moon had one more chance, but a last second field goal went wide right, and Penn-Trafford celebrated its first WPIAL Title, 24-21.
