Possible strong storms to hit Pittsburgh area Sunday afternoon

PITTSBURGH — This Father’s Day will start out nice and clear, but the cookouts and festivities may be spoiled by storms in the afternoon.

The severe storms are almost off the radar, but we are not out of the woods just yet.

As was the case Saturday, very warm weather will continue Sunday with high humidity and temperatures in the upper and mid-80s.

Heavy weather is possible this afternoon, when a cold front will push into the warm, humid air mass and generate strong storms -- including flooding downpours and a gusty wind.

These showers will linger into Monday. Then, the weather will be more comfortable with less heat and humidity by Monday afternoon.
